The Local Area

The main town of Girne is a 35 minute drive, and here you can take a walk around the harbour, go on a boat trip or visit the castle.

St Hilarion, a castle built into the mountains above Girne is a further 20 minute drive from Girne and offers fantastic panoramic views of the North coast line, as well as views over the mountains toward the south. Some claim ST Hilarion is inspiration for Walt Disney’s castle and it is well worth a visit.

Along with St Hilarion, Buffavento and Kantara castle formed the islands defence from Arab pirates, and all 3 castle ruins can be visited, lot’s of up hill walking is involved.

Located 10 minutes from the apartment is Alagadi, whose beaches are homes to nesting marine turtles from May to September. Visit the beaches during the day to view the nests, arrange a trip at night to watch the turtles or help release the hatchlings into the sea.

  • Sea Wise Restaurant. A restaurant over looking the sea which also has a pool area and is the closest restaurant to the apartment.
